Do you ever find yourself caught up in irrational anxiety?
Lately, I’ve been finding myself like that. Maybe it’s because I live on my own and work on my own sometimes. My brain can get tangled up around little things, especially as I have OCD. And when there’s no-one to help me get perspective, I can get pretty worried about things.

Like the flat I live in: dreading things breaking, leaking and going wrong. Or things breaking in my car when I’m away from home.
And I sense the Lord encouraging me that there’s nothing really to my fear.
Sure, we live in a broken world. Things happen. But God always provides for those who follow Jesus (you can find out what that means and how you can follow Him here) when they do.
Each time something has happened, He has provided. I have very kind friends and neighbours who have helped, and would help. And He has always gone ahead abundantly in each thing that has happened.
He is my Father, and a Father Who provides. And part of being His child in Jesus is the truth that He will provide. That He will help me.
I saw it the other day with my car. I can get quite anxious when I’m in my car, worrying about breaking down away from home. It’s happened an odd time, but, each time, it’s all worked out fine. The other day, I happened to look at my tyres and realised one of them was low, with a nail in it. The amazing thing was that I was at home when I found it. That week, I’d driven 80 miles. But the problem didn’t show up until I was safely at home! The RAC came and helped me so quickly, from the comfort of my own home.
Another time, I broke down when I was at office. With my friend around, and the comfortable office building to stay in until the problem was solved. Another time, I did break down on a country road, but it was easily solved, and not a big deal.
Years ago, I broke down on the motorway… kind of. I was driving my friend, and we noticed smoke coming out of the bonnet… and the services were literally JUST THERE! So we drove into the services and the RAC came out to us there. Amazing!
He always provides. He always makes a way. And He really doesn’t want me to worry.

So I think I need to relax. To take a deep breath. To trust that His answers will come right when I need them. I belong to Jesus (you can find out how that can be true of you here). He is with me. He’s looking after me. So I really don’t need to worry!
‘”For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”‘ Matthew 6:32-34
