How do the signs of spring make you feel?
The first snowdrops? The first daffodils? The sunshine, the blossom and the light?

The signs of spring coming always bring me joy. I always look out for the first snowdrops, and I have to smile while I see the daffodils suddenly appearing, and beginning to hint at yellow.
The other day, I went for a walk in a park. I was talking to the Lord about the day, and it was like He drew my attention to the signs of life all around me. I’d been to the same park a few weeks before. It was still pretty barren in some ways. But the signs of life were all around me! There were chirpings and twitterings and trills from every direction! Snowdrops were carpeting the ground. Splashes of yellow and purple crocuses in little patches. Green appearing all over the place!
It was like you just couldn’t stop the spring coming! The signs were kind of quiet, but they were loud, too! It was hard to miss them. The birds just wouldn’t stop their joyful, background shouting about life and joy coming!
It felt like a reminder from the Lord that, when we know Him through Jesus (and you can too- find out more here), He is always working on restoration. Yes, I know it’s ultimately in eternity, but I believe that some of it comes through in this life, too.
I ended up starting this poem, and thought I would share it here.
Spring Hope
From all around, the new life springs,
With hints and calls and rustlings:
A spreading life you cannot stop.
Nothing can still this waking up.
Carpets appear of softest white.
As if from nowhere, signs of life
Bursting up with joy to break;
Splendour and song coming awake.
What seemed so dead bringing to birth
A new abundance from the earth;
Gently strong, the life flows on:
River of joy, a spreading dawn.
With Him, I know the hope will come:
Mercy, new life. Strong, endless love.
I know there’s more when He’s involved:
That hope and healing flow from God.
I pause; drink in the sounds of spring,
In fresh new depths, let hope sink in,
And hear the promise of new joy.
Father, Your love will yet restore.

I hope you enjoy the signs of spring coming! And may they bring you joy too!
