What do you do when you face challenges? Big ones? Or even small ones?
What do you do in times of change?
What do you do when your world comes crashing down? When the world (and maybe your world) feels big and frightening and uncertain?

Again and again, I’ve found that the Sunday School answers are what I need. Trusting in Jesus. Going to Jesus. Clinging on to Jesus.
I was brought up in Sunday School. Jesus made Himself real to me when I was very small. And He has never, ever failed. And, when times are confusing or challenging, I find myself going back again and again to the simple truths I learned as a little girl. Just trusting Jesus.
And He has never, ever failed.
I was also brought up on old, traditional hymns. And the words are often so powerful; so helpful. And singing them reminds me that I’m standing on an unshakeable Rock, no matter how much the world may shake.
Years ago, someone gave me an old hymn book, and I began to write new tunes to old songs. One of those was for ‘I am Trusting Thee Lord Jesus’, by Francis Ridley Havergal. I ended up adapting some of the words and adding some extra bits. It helps me remember the truth that never changes; the truth that is still enough.
“I am trusting Thee, Lord Jesus. Never let me fall. I am trusting Thee forever, and for all.”
I hope it encourages you in whatever you’re going through today. 🙂

I Trust You (I am trusting Thee, Lord Jesus)
Some lyrics adapted from Frances Ridley Havergal (public domain)
I am trusting You Lord Jesus,
Trusting only Thee,
Trusting You for full salvation,
Great and free.
I am trusting You for pardon
At Your feet I bow
For Your grace and tender mercy,
Trusting now.
All of Your promises are true.
My heart can rest secure in You.
I choose to say, “I believe.
Help my unbelief.
Jesus, I trust You.“
I am trusting You to wash me
In the crimson flood,
Trusting You to make me holy
By Your blood.
I am trusting You to guide me.
Jesus, will You lead?
Every day and hour You give me
All I need.
All of Your promises are true.
My heart can rest secure in You.
Your mercy has set me free.
You have made me clean.
Jesus I trust You.
Holy and pure,
Steadfast and sure,
All of Your words are true.
Your Word is my light,
My unfailing guide.
Jesus, I trust You.
I am trusting You to bring me
Safe to Glory’s shore,
Where You’ll be our great Bridegroom,
Our joy forevermore.
I am trusting You, Lord Jesus.
Never let me fall.
I am trusting You forever
And for all.
All of Your promises are true.
My heart can rest secure in You.
There may be a price to pay
But I choose to say,
“Jesus, I trust You.”
You’re faithful in every way
So I choose to say,
“Jesus, I trust You.”
