When God Surprises You With His Kindness

I just want to give testimony to God’s unexpected kindness. His mercy.

How sometimes He can surprise you with something you didn’t see coming, but something you needed.

I’d been in full-time ministry a long time. I was pretty worn out. I’d battled anxiety on and off. I thought a few times that a Sabbatical would be a good thing. But, in my head, it wasn’t really a possibility.

And then God surprised me with change. He made it clear that He was leading me to change where I serve. And it’s been taking time to come together. There’s a plan, but it’s not quite ready yet.

And, in the space, God has made a Sabbatical. Time to sleep. Time to see old friends. Time to read books that are really helping me. Time to rest in His presence. Time to enjoy the summer, and the sunshine.

It encourages me that God is kind. I worry and try to plan for things that may come up in the future, but God is many steps ahead of me, taking care of me in ways I often don’t see coming.

It encourages me that He is kind, and He is good.

Many years ago, a stranger came up to me and said that she was a Christian, and she felt that God wanted her to tell me the word ‘lighter’- that life doesn’t have to be so heavy! Another time, a stranger came up to me and said that he felt God wanted him to give me £5, as an encouragement that provision will always come when I need it.

I’m learning that it’s true. I’m learning that He provides for those who follow Him, sometimes in ways we don’t expect. I’m learning that, when we seek His Kingdom first, He always comes through.

I’m encouraged by the kindness of my faithful God. I’m learning that, when we know and follow Jesus, He takes care of us in amazing ways.

And I pray that gives you hope in your story, too. 🙂
