When Your World Suddenly Changes…

Wow, so it’s a bit of a crazy time right now!

A few weeks ago, everything changed when the Lord made it clear that He is leading me to leave my role in ministry, which I’ve done for over 13 years, because He is calling me to something new. I’m still friends with everyone, but the Lord made it abundantly clear.

What?!

All of a sudden, my whole world changed. And it hasn’t really settled down yet, although things are becoming clearer!

But I’ve been learning a lot over the past few weeks, and I thought I’d share some thoughts while it’s all fresh!

  1. God is real, and I really see His faithfulness when I need Him. When, suddenly, it’s moment by moment dependence for guidance and provision and peace, He comes through, moment by moment. And my relationship with Him can be refreshed!
  2. No matter what happens, I’m learning that the answer is always to push into seeking the Lord: to press into His presence, to seek Him and hold onto His Word. He is real, and He gives grace, and He answers.
  3. I’m experiencing (again!) that being covered by prayer from others is an incredibly powerful way through confusing times! The Lord answers and gives His peace and strength.
  4. I don’t need to know the answers in order to trust the Lord. I don’t need to know how everything will work out, or where I will end up. Trusting in the dark is, after all, how trust works best!
  5. Worry is always unnecessary! By the time I need the provision, it will have come (even if it’s at the last minute).
  6. I’m learning that sometimes God has been planning something you had no idea was coming… and it’s okay when you belong to Him, because He’s known all along, and He’s had the answers lined up all along… and I’ll see His answers when I need them, which is amazing!
  7. Some level of routine can be a helpful thing for getting through a time of change (if you’re like me!).
  8. I’m loved just as much in a time of transition as I am at any other time, because God’s love is strong, consistent and unchanging.
  9. I’m learning that seeking the Kingdom first (Matt 6:33) is always the right way to live, and making the first decision, to put God’s Kingdom first, brings clarity to the decisions after that.
  10. I can be in God’s presence without needing to know the answers. He is reminding me that what He wants first is relationship, and times of uncertainty can be precious times of relationship with Him.

‘And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”’ Exodus 33:14

Those are some things I’ve been learning in a time of change.

I hope they bless you, too! 🙂
