Do you find it hard to remember God’s truth in the busyness and grind of everyday life?

I’ve been trying to figure out how to remember truths about God’s love for me and who I am in Him (because I belong to Him through Jesus, trusting in Him and following Him).
Because it’s really easy to forget, isn’t it? It’s a constant battle to remember. Things during the day can drag me down; can cause me to forget; can cause me to look at how I feel, instead of remembering what God says is true.
And I think something is clicking.
I think the Lord is showing me that a very big key is meditating on the truth. To have habits of meditating on the truth through the day.
To write out Bible verses and soak in them. To have a list of them on somewhere I can access easily (like on my phone) and go back to them again and again through the day.
I was listening to a lovely lady the other day, sharing how, when she goes through a trial, she asks the Lord for a verse to hold on to, and then she goes back to it again and again. When she has space in her mind, she goes back to that verse. She thinks about it when she goes to sleep. She intentionally goes back to it when her mind has space. And that verse goes into her heart, and sustains her.
Now that’s something I need to learn from!
So I’ve been starting to try to do that. I’ve written out Bible verses that help and encourage me, and speak into my struggles. And I have been trying to remember to go back to them in the day.
Here is one of my favourites:
‘”‘Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.'”‘ Isaiah 41:10
God’s Word is very, very powerful. I tend to forget that: tend to think that it probably won’t help that much. But the truth is that God’s Word cuts through the lies and the struggles, with supernatural power that can minister profoundly to our hearts. It shocks me when I read God’s Word, and realise something of its power!
More and more, I want to meditate on His Word. To write out verses and come back to them. Because I am beginning to think it will help a lot.
