Below is a poem I wrote on a lovely day out with friends, years ago. As I wrote it, I was deeply aware of how loved I am by God: of the peace and hope I have found by trusting Jesus as Saviour and Lord (you can find it too- find out more here!). I wrote this poem to try and capture that day. 🙂

All This
The sun rides high o’er sweeping green.
Life stands out from its spreading wings,
Bold and wide and wonderful.
I stand and drink this gentle peace.
All around, the splendour spills;
The wide, wide fields, the muted trees
Melt to touch the endlessness
Of blue, blue far as eye can see.
There’s hope now in the restedness
Of gloried skies; of green on green;
Of stunning, stilling gentleness
That echoes out to rolling peace.
Look and look! This beauty taste
And gaze on spreading endlessness.
It thrills my heart, which thirsts; it wakes.
It stuns and stills my quietening breast.
The thrill of beauty’s rightedness;
The rush of life; stillness; release.
This garden glory; glimpse of Rest.
I see; I breathe; I taste deep grace.
I laugh and look at tender friends;
See smiles; feel warmth; know gentle peace
At beauteous fields; at boundless grace
And thank God for giving all this.
